Based on an early 20th-century Yoruba ceremonial wrapper, this design draws on the strip-weaving traditions of southwestern Nigeria. Narrow panels of handwoven cotton are joined with visible stitching, alternating light indigo with soft ivory and coral-red checks. The composition reflects the Yoruba sense of rhythm and balance—each band distinct yet harmoniously aligned.

Originally worn as a ceremonial wrapper, the cloth would have conveyed grace and continuity, its pale indigo tones suggesting clarity and renewal, the coral accents vitality and celebration.
