Printed on indigo-dyed linen, the pattern is built in two stages — the outer geometry applied through screen printing to capture precision, the inner motifs hand-stamped using carved wooden blocks. Each layer is aligned by eye, the pressure of each impression leaving slight variations across the surface.

The indigo ground is prepared through repeated dyeing, then overprinted with a mineral pigment that sits lightly on the surface, softening as it is washed back into the cloth.

Adapted from Chinese Indonesian garments, the pattern carries a history of movement, absorption, and invention.
